Job Description


The Curriculum Support Assistant will support teaching staff at Smart Gas and help enhance the learning experience for all apprentices that attend the training centre. The role will vary in tasks from invigilating exams to keeping the workshop tidy and fully stocked.


Salary:         Dependent on experience

Hours:          Full-time

Location:      Ashbourne, Derbyshire.

Reporting to: All tutors and the Operations & Compliance Manager/Designated

Safeguard Lead.



Preferably educated to GCSE level in Maths and English.

Basic knowledge of the plumbing trade is an advantage.

Full and clean driving license is essential.


Experience:  No experience is required but the following is preferable:

Experience of working with young people.

Experience of working in an education environment.

Experience of working in and contributing to a team.

An understanding of learning and/or physical difficulties.


Key Responsibilities:

To provide support for tutors and apprentices.

Driving the company vehicle when required.

To help maintain resources for the classrooms as well as the workshop.

To liaise with the Designated Safeguard Lead and colleagues on a regular basis sharing good practice and on-going concerns.

To support the routine assessments of students and aid the collection of review information.

Provide support during examinations for individual pupils who require special arrangements.

Help promote the training centre’s behavioural policy.

Invigilating and marking exams.

Excellent driving skills and have a full and clean licence.
